[CHCGMB001] Assess the needs of clients with problem gambling issues #
[CHCGMB002] Provide counselling for clients with problem gambling issues #
Units marked with a # require the practical demonstration of skills in a simulated work environment. A variety of options are available to complete practical assessments including through private one-on-one or small group assessment (in person or online) or submitting a video recording.
Important Note:
- An Assessment Book is completed for each topic, and 2 practicals are completed as part of this skill set.
- The information included in this Course Outline is indicative of the final curriculum but may not necessarily contain all units necessary for completion of the course. All assessment that you complete throughout your studies will contribute to your final award. Industry regularly reviews this qualification, and the Institute is required to incorporate any changes specified during this review process. Any changes, upgrades or expansions to the curriculum will be instigated in such a way that your studies are affected as little as possible.
- Progress through your skill set is achieved by completing each unit’s assessment book and 2 practicals (by workshops, video or private assessment). Please contact your Student Support Centre if you have any questions about the requirements to complete your course.
- You can study your course on a full-time, part-time, or self-paced basis. Indicatively, full time study of the course will take approximately 2 months. You have up to five (5) years from the date of your enrolment to complete your course.

*Total upfront course cost is $5,070, which includes tuition of $4,790, plus 2 practical sessions each of $140. The practical elements are paid as they are undertaken. They can be completed either on-campus (via four 1-day workshops), online (via Zoom/Skype), by uploading a video demonstration, or by having a private assessor assess your skills.

Seminars are held regularly in most capital cities throughout Australia.
Students who may not be able to attend seminars for whatever reason, can elect to complete the practical components through alternate means, such as a one-on-one or small group session with a private assessor. We have private assessors in numerous regional areas across Australia.
Students can also complete their practical components by video recording a demonstration of their skills. We have guidelines available to assist students compile their recordings and develop effective role plays to demonstrate their skills.
Optional tutorials are available at most Student Support Centres. Tutorials provide you with support on each written subject.
