Frequently Asked Questions
The Certificate III in Individual Support covers both ageing and disability and prepares you to deliver care. This Certificate IV focuses on older people and develops skills for contributing to individualised support plans and guide other workers. The Certificate IV develops these areas in greater depth and with a stronger focus on more advanced responsibilities. This course also has 18 units compared to 16 in the Certificate III.
Ageing support gives you the opportunity to help older people maintain their independence, wellbeing and quality of life. Depending on your role, you may build ongoing relationships with clients while supporting them in residential aged care, home care or community settings. The range of settings can also give you different options as you develop your career.
Yes. You’ll complete a minimum of 120 hours in a real care environment, working with older clients under supervision at an average of 12 hours a week. You’ll also work on placement activities at home that count towards your assessment. To finish the qualification, you’ll arrange a first aid certificate through an external training organisation.
We teach the Certificate IV in Ageing Support online, so you can study it from anywhere in Australia.
