Most reputable counsellor registration bodies are making supervision a mandatory stipulation for higher levels of practitioner membership. Counselling supervision is becoming an essential safeguard for clients, a support for counsellors and a process through which counsellors can develop their skills.

The Institute's Supervisor Training Program was developed in response to the trend within the counselling industry towards supervision requirements for newly-qualified counsellors.

The Supervisor Training Program enables Counsellors to progress to Counselling Supervisors. As a trained Counselling Supervisor, you will be able to:

-         Conduct supervision sessions using various supervision interventions;

-         Provide effective evaluation and feedback to counsellors being supervised,

-         Address the ethical and legal considerations of supervision.

By completing this program, you will also enhance your counselling expertise which will widen the range of counselling services you can offer to counsellors and clients.

The program is a self-paced course designed to facilitate the development of supervisory knowledge and skills for experienced counsellors. It is endorsed by the Australian Counselling Association and will equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to become an effective supervisor.

Upon completion of the Supervisor Training Program, you will be eligible to apply for listing on the Australian Counselling Association's Supervisor List.

For more information about the Program you may also contact your nearest Student Support Centre.
